Students receive instruction in safety, basic electricity, basic circuits, basic semiconductors, digital electronics, and computer theory and repair. Training will consist of realistic experience and projects using oscilloscopes, digital volt, amp and ohm meters, digital training boards and use of a computer micro processor trainer.

Recommended Preparation
The student needs to be comfortable with basic algebra and problem solving.
This program is recommended as a prerequisite to Electronics II/Computer Networking. Students in Electronics I are given priority to enroll in Electronics II/Computer Networking. Recommended course to prepare students for Computer Networking Program.*

Articulated Credit

If a student completes the program and meets the specific criteria required for articulation, he/she may be able to articulate 6 hours of course work taken at the high school level and apply them toward college credit hours in the same field.

Job Outlook
Job opportunities should be best for applicants with a thorough knowledge of electronics, as well as electronics repair experience. Employment of electronics repairers of commercial and industrial equipment is expected to grow about as fast as the average for all occupations through 2008. The combination of a sound electronics background coupled with computer repair skills will provide abundant opportunities for students with these skills.

Employment Growth
Growth will be concentrated in private industry, where the increasing use of equipment will create new jobs for repairers. The use of commercial and industrial electronic equipment will become more widespread, as businesses strive to lower costs by increasing automation. Companies will install electronic controls, robots, sensors, and other equipment, to automate processes such as assembly and testing.

Recommended course to prepare students for Computer Networking Program.
