Vocational Preparation

Grade 10
This is a one semester program designed to allow the student to explore a variety of technical programs offered at CCTEC. The Voc. Prep. student will have the opportunity to seek out a technical area that most interests him/her, and then learn more about it. The student is then moved into the program of his/her choice the following semester.

Students will study everything from auto mechanics to welding and therefore must have an interest in a technical field. Safety and applied mathematics are two areas that are stressed during the duration of this program. Exploration to technical fields is done through individualized instruction modules as well as group and individual projects in a larger shop setting.

Students wishing to be in vocational preparation must be placed in the program by their counselor. Students enrolled in the fall semester must be 16 years of age by the end of the semester. Students enrolled in the program in the spring must be 16 years of age by the following school year.
